City of Bradford Meet 2009

 

A team of 30 swimmers from Rotherham Metro travelled to Bradford on the 12th of December to take part in the City of Bradford SC Christmas Open Meet. The club has been travelling to this gala for more than 10 years and this has been their most successful meet yet.

 

A total of 45 medals were won and 9 swimmers qualified for the Skinz finals. Skinz finals are for the 6 fastest swimmers from a previous heat, they swim against each other with the slowest swimmer being taken out of each swim until there are only 2 swimmers remaining, with only a 60 second break between each swim. Dale Waterhouse came 2nd in the Open IM event with Daniel Mclean 3rd and Thomas Nelson 6th. In the junior IM Matthew Sotheran came 4th and Josh Whitehurst came 5th.

 

In the Open Free Skinz, Dale finished 3rd and Daniel 4th and Matthew Sotheran came 4th in the Junior Event. In the girls open IM Emily Shone finished 2nd and Charlotte Pearson came 3rd, Fran Mcgrother came 5th and Kelsey Longden came 6th. In the girls open Free, Charlotte finished 3rd and Emily 5th. Robert Kirk won 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 4 bronze and was named as top boy in the 9-10 year group. Dale won 5 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze was top in the 15 and over group. Emily Shone who won 3 gold and 3 silver medals was named as the top girl in the 13/14 age group. Gold medals were also awarded to Daniel and Fran, with Silver medals being won by Matthew Sotheran, Josh Whitehurst, Daniel and Kelsey Longden.

 

Those winning Bronze medals were James Shiel, Ben Bainbridge, Holly Sotheran, Fran, Charlotte, Matthew and last but not least Thomas Nelson. Here are the medal winners.
