Leeds Christmas Cracker 2011
A small group of Rotherham Metro swimmers took part in the City of Leeds Christmas Cracker gala at the John Charles Aquatic Centre in the run up to Christmas. Our athletes were in the midst of a tough winter training programme which meant personal bests and medals were at a premium but some of our younger swimmers managed to pick up a handful of medals.
A trio of Bronze medals were won by Alice Aucott (13) in the 50 metre breaststroke, Jack McGann (12) in the 50 metre butterfly and Robert Pearson (13) in the 100 metre backstroke. George Russell (14) took Gold in the 200 metre butterfly to take the medal tally to 4 in a gala dominated by some of the UK's top clubs.
Also competing for Metro and going head to head with some tough opposition, including current International swimmers, were Aaron Waterhouse, Beth Woodcock, Jess Bushby, James Shiel, Josh Hillman, Connor Neal, Abbie Hull, Emily Shone, Shannon Eades, Kimberley Bush, Nicole Clarke, Kelsey Longden, Matt Sotheran, Charlotte Pearson, Holly Sotheran, Rebecca Britten, Ben Cliff and Sam Pearson.
