January 2007 Graded Meet Report
Sixty of Metro’s swimmers took part in their annual January A/B Grade Meet at Sheffield’s Pond Forge, many of them winning medals or achieving personal best times.
A Grade Results
In the ten year age group Matthew Sotheran won a gold medal in the 100m freestyle and bronze medals in the 100m breaststroke and 50m butterfly. Nathan Salf won a gold medal in the 100m backstroke whilst Rachael Grainger won a gold in the 50m butterfly. Nicole Clark won a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke and Emily Shone won a bronze in the 200m butterfly.
Adam Parkes, in the twelve year age group, won gold in the 100m backstroke, a silver medal in the 100m butterfly and bronze medals in the 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Charlotte Pearson won gold in the 50m butterfly and a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle. Richard Lee won silver medals in the 100m breaststroke, the 50m butterfly and the 200m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 50m freestyle. He also won a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke.
In the thirteen year age group Dan McLean won four silver medals; 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke, and a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke. Aaron Waterhouse won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle and Madison Elliott gained bronze in the 200m backstroke.
Samuel Chambers, aged fourteen won three bronze medals; 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke.
In the fifteen year age group, Dale Waterhouse won gold medals in the 50m freestyle, the 100m freestyle and the 200m breaststroke, also winning silver in the 100m breaststroke and 50m backstroke, and bronze in the 50m breaststroke. Catherine Taylor won gold medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke, and in the 100m butterfly. James Pepper won gold in the 200m backstroke, silver in both the 100m butterfly and 50m butterfly, and bronze in the 100m breaststroke. Emily-may Roebuck won a gold medal in the 100m freestyle, silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke. Laura Whittaker won silver medals in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle, and bronze in the 50m backstroke. Charlotte Bailey won a silver in the 200m butterfly and Claire Shortt won three bronze medals in the 50m butterfly, the 50m breaststroke and the 100m freestyle. Thomas Moxon won a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly and Shauna Benson won bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
Speeding tickets, for swimming faster than the cut-off times were Matthew Sotheran, Rachael Grainger, Emily Shone, James Pepper, Laura Whittaker, Nicole Clark and Emily-may Roebuck.
B grade results
In the ten year age group Samuel Pearson won gold medals in both the 50m breaststroke and the 50m butterfly. Sarah Lewis won the gold medal in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 50m backstroke. Shannon Eades won gold in the 100m backstroke whilst Jessica Bushby won gold in the 200m freestyle. Laura Gillott won silver in the 100m backstroke and Kelsey Longden won bronze in both the 50m breaststroke and the 100m breaststroke.
