Presentation Evening December 2011

The 28th December saw us hold our annual Christmas Party/Presentation Night, thanks to all who attended and the made the evening such a success and thanks again to Alaina Shone for doing such a great job of organising the whole event.

Whilst some swimmers were lucky enough to receive awards for their efforts and achievements during 2011 the evening was a celebration of what has been a good year both in and out of the pool for the club and all swimmers deserve credit for their hard work and commitment throughout the year. So well done to all our swimmers and a big thank you to all our coaches, volunteers, parents and everyone else who supports the club and its swimmers.

The first set of medals awarded were for swimmers who had taken part in the Sunday morning time trials that are held four times a year. We then moved on to Head Coach Alan Kirton's awards, his first award was to a non-swimmer, Yvonne Waterhouse, who he thanked for all her help and support. Alan then presented 5 swimmers with certificates in recognition of them having achieved National Qualifying Times and hence taking part in the National Championships during 2011, those achieving this significant milestone were: Charlotte Pearson, Matthew Sotheran, George Russell, Robert Pearson and Holly Sotheran.

Next up were Alan's Club Captains for 2012 with 2011 Captains Aaron Waterhouse and Emily Shone presenting the coveted polo shirts to this years representatives James Shiel and Kelsey Longden.

The final presentations of the evening were Alan's nominations for his main awards, 2011's top boy and girl and also the winner of the 'Inspiration' trophy. For both his top boy and girl Alan announced joint winners and in both cases the award was shared between a new member of the A squad and one of the squad's more experienced swimmers, the winners of the boy's award being Josh Hillman and Aaron Waterhouse with the girl's award shared by Abbie Hull and Emily Shone. Charlotte Pearson was then awarded the 'Inspiration' trophy for her attitude and commitment to training even when the going got tough.

So thanks to all who supported the event and the committee would like to wish everyone associated with the club a happy and healthy 2012 and we look forward to what hopefully will be another successful year in the pool for all our swimmers.
