January 21st 2006 Graded Meet Report
On Saturday January 21st Rotherham Metro held their annual January A and B graded meet with over 50 of their swimmers taking part.
Metro were the top scoring team with York receiving the award for the highest scoring visitors. In the individual awards, Richard Lee came second in the boy’s points table whilst Andrea Whaling came fourth overall for the girls.
In the 9 year age group Matthew Sotheran won 7 medals; with first places in the 50m and 100m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly, second places in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke, and third place in the 100m Freestyle. Nathan Salf also did well winning 5 medals; first place in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke, and second place in the 50m and 100m Freestyle, and in the 100m Butterfly. Rachael Grainger won 3 medals; coming second in the 50m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle, and third in the 100m Backstroke. Emily Shone came third in the 100m Breaststroke and Butterfly. Alex Pepper came third in the 10 year old 100m Breaststroke B.
Richard Lee won 7 medals in the 11 year age group coming first in the 50m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke; second in the 100m Butterfly and third in the 50m Breaststroke, the 100m Freestyle and the 100m Backstroke. Nicholas Grainger came first in the 100m Backstroke and third in the 50m Breaststroke. Megan Forster came second in the 50m Backstroke and third in the 100m Butterfly.
In the 12 year age group Aaron Waterhouse led the way for the boys with 5 medals, coming second in the 100m Butterfly A, Freestyle A, Backstroke A and Breaststroke A, and achieving third place in the 50m Backstroke. Katie Jackson won 4 medals – first in the 50m Butterfly A and Backstroke A, second in the 100m Backstroke A and third in the 100m Freestyle A. Daniel McLean came second in the 100m Freestyle B and the Breaststroke B, whilst Madison Elliott came first in the 50m Butterfly B, second in the 50m Backstroke A and third in the 50m Freestyle A. Aimee Jepson came third in the 50m Backstroke A and in the 100m Butterfly A. Ashleigh Reasbuck gained third place in the 100m Butterfly B.
Samuel Chambers won 5 medals in the 13 year age group, achieving first place in the 100m Breaststroke A, second place in the 50m Backstroke A, Breaststroke A, Butterfly A, and third place in the 100m Backstroke. Paige Jepson gained two firsts- in the 50m and100m Backstroke A and second place in the 100m Butterfly A. Hannah Lewis came first in the 50m Breaststroke B and second in the 100m Freestyle B.
In the 14 year age group Dale Waterhouse won three first place medals in the 100m Breaststroke A, 100m Butterfly B and the 50m Breaststroke A. James Pepper came second in the 50m Backstroke A, 50m Butterfly A and in the 100m Backstroke A. Thomas Nelson came first in the 100m Backstroke B whilst Michael Stewart came second in the 50m Freestyle B and third in the 100m Freestyle B. Laura Whittaker starred for the girls winning first place in the 100m Freestyle A, 100m Backstroke A and the 50m Butterfly A. Shauna Benson came first in the 100m Breaststroke B and second in the 50m Breaststroke B, Charlotte Bailey came first in the 100m Breaststroke B, whilst Louise Rourke came first in the 100m Butterfly B. Frannie McGrother came third in the 100m Breaststroke B and third in the 100m Butterfly B. Emma Whaling gained second place in the 50m Backstroke B, Emily Blank came second in the 50m Freestyle B with Lorren Rowe coming third in the same event. Rachel Taylor came third in the 50m Butterfly B.
In the 15 and over age group Andrea Whaling led the way, winning first place in the 100m Backstroke A, Butterfly A and 50m Backstroke A, second place in the 50m Butterfly A and Breaststroke A, and third place in 100m Breaststroke A. Megan Litchfield came first in the 50m Breaststroke B and Butterfly B. Laura Wylie came first in the 100m Breaststroke B and third in the 100m Freestyle B whilst Abigail Smith came second in the 50m Backstroke B and Emily-may Roebuck came second in the 100m Backstroke A. Sophie Patchett came third in the 50m Freestyle. For the boys Thomas Moxon came second in each of his events; 100m Buttterfly A and Breaststroke A and 50m Breaststroke A.
Swimming too fast for their events and gaining speeding tickets were; William Bailey, Sophie Wilson, Nicholas Grainger, Alex Graves, Lorren Clark, Katie Jackson, Ashleigh Reasbuck, Hannah Shone, Samuel Chambers, Hannah Lewis, Thomas Nelson, Shauna Benson, Emma Whaling, Andrea Whaling, Megan Litchfield and Abigail Smith.
Other swimmers taking part for Rotherham Metro were James Newton, Nicole Clarke, Loren Taylor. Damian McDonagh, Nicole Clayton, Adam Smith, Joe Horton and Hannah Docherty.
