Metro Marvels Up North

A small group of swimmers from Rotherham Metro travelled to Durham to attend the ASA North East Region Senior and Junior Championships swimming Gala, which took place on the 7 and 8th November. Competition is tough as many of the competitors already have national times. Despite this Rotherham Metro still showed they were serious about winning.

Appearing in the finals were Charlotte Pearson who came 5th in the 50 metres Fly with a time of 29.83 and 6th in the 100 metres Fly with a time 1.06.88, she narrowly missed gaining a National time in the 50 Fly by just 0.008 of a second, but still won 2 junior Bronze medals. Ben Bainbridge finished 8th in the 200 metres Fly in a time of 2.17.22 and Matthew Sotheran finished 8th in the 800 Free in a time of 9.13.30. Daniel Mclean came 7th in both the 200 metres Freestyle (1.57.51) and 50 metres Back (28.81). Dale Waterhouse finished 2nd in the 100 metres Free in a time of 51.54, 6th in the 50 metres Breast in 31.78, 3rd in the 100 metres (1.07.07) and 200 metres Breast (2.28.39), 4th in the 200 metres IM, 2.09.45, 3rd in the 50 Free, 24.09 and 7th in the 100 metres Back, 1.02.75. The Mens 400 Freestyle team which consisted of Daniel, Dale, Aaron Waterhouse and Simon Worne finished in 5th place the 400 metres IM team which included Dale, Simon, Daniel and Adam Parkes finished 8th. Overall the club achieved 13 top 8 positions with 4 new club records being attained, whereas last year they only had 1 finalist, this just shows how much the club has improved.
