Charlotte Claims National Time
Metro competed in the Robin Hood open meet held at Ponds Forge over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of October and in a competition featuring 93 clubs they came away in seventh position.
Seventeen year-old Charlotte Pearson was once again in scintillating form coming away with the Gold medal in the 100 fly and in doing so also claimed her national qualifying time to enable to enter the national championships in July next year. George Russell (14) showed what a talent he is by claiming Gold medals in the 100 fly and 400 freestyle and also following this up with a hat-trick of Silver medals in the 200IM, 200 freestyle and 50 fly. Matthew Sotheran (15) claimed a total of five medals which were: Gold in the 50 freestyle, Silver in the 200IM, and a hat-trick of bronze medals in the 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Alice Aucott twelve was in fantastic form over the two days of the meet culminating in superlative performance s in the freestyle events were she came away with Gold in the 100 and Silvers in the 50 and 200. Holly Sotheran also twelve was another athlete in fine form coming away with Silver in the 50 fly and a trio of Bronze medals in the 100 fly, 200 backstroke and 400 freestyle. Backstroke specialists Abbie Hull and Robert Pearson both thirteen claimed a Silver meda, Abbie in the 200 backstroke and Robert in the 50 backstroke.
