Yorkshire Winter Championships 2011

National Qualifiers

The Yorkshire Winter Championships took place on the weekend of the 8th and 9th October at Ponds Forge with many Rotherham Metro swimmers taking part and acquitting themselves in fine fashion.

Star of the championships was Rotherham’s George Russell (14) who came away with a hat-trick of Gold medals in what can only be described as superlative performances.  On day one George claimed Gold in the 100 Fly by a considerable margin and followed this up on day two with Gold in the 100 Freestyle and 200IM.

Twelve year-old Holly Sotheran put in a magnificent performance to claim a Bronze medal in a very tight 100 Fly. Numerous swimmers throughout the meet claimed North East times and PBs and were a credit to Rotherham metro Swimming club.

Top ten finishers were: Jack Anderson, Debbie Cocking, Abbie Ackroyd, Charlotte Pearson, Robert Pearson, Rebecca Finnie, Abbie Hull, Rebecca Britten, Jack McGann, Connor Neal, Alice Aucott, Simon Worne and Kayley Britten.
