Matthew Beats All But One!
Rotherham Metro took part in the Yorkshire Winters Competition which was held at Ponds Forge on the 10 and 11th October. There were 27 clubs in attendance with the majority of swimmers there trying to obtain national times.
Matthew Sotheran was on top form, as he came first in 4 races out of 5 and also achieved a national time of 1.05 in the 100 metres backstroke. He also won Gold medals in the 100 Fly, 200 IM, and 100 Free. His sister Holly also won a Gold in the 200 IM and Alice Aucott was successful in obtaining a Gold in the 100 Breast. Emily Shone won a Silver medal in the 100 metres Backstroke. Bronze medals were awarded to Dale Waterhouse in the 100 Breast and 200 IM, Robert Kirk in the 50 metres Fly, Lois Vardy in the 50 metres Fly and Holly Sotheran in the 100 metres Fly. Yorkshire swimming Caps were also given to those who finished in the top ten, those who were successful were Jack McGann, Connor Neal, Charlotte Pearson, Shannon Eades, Kelsey Longden, Josh Whitehurst, Fran McGrother, Simon Worne and George Russell.
