South Axholme B and C Grade 2011
A team of Rotherham Metro swimmers competed at the South Axholme Halloween B and C Grade meet on Sunday 23rd October held in Beverley. There were numerous PB’s and lots of medals won, the event consisted of 50M sprints in all four events with a 100M IM. The first six in each age and grade were awarded medals with many also gaining speeding tickets.
Boys Event
In the boy’s event nine year-old Jack Anderson was in fantastic form gaining 4 gold medals in the breaststroke, freestyle, fly and 100IM and followed this up with silver in the breaststroke, Jack also claimed top boy in his age group. Also in scintillating form was ten year-old Jack Whitehurst had a very busy day winning gold in the freestyle, breaststroke, fly and backstroke with silver in the 100IM and named top boy in his age group. Luke Hamstead (12) claimed double gold in the breaststroke and fly with 6th position in the backstroke, also twelve Brodie Benson claimed silver’s in the fly and backstroke with bronze in the breaststroke and rounded an excellent day off with 6th position in the freestyle and 100IM. Ehren Beresford (11) took gold in the backstroke with silver in the freestyle with 4th position in the breastsrtoke and 6th in the fly. Another twelve year-old in fine form was Connor Wood who claimed gold in the fly with 4th in the freestyle and 5th in the backstroke and 100IM. In the 15 and over section William Bailey claimed a speeding ticket in the freestyle and silver in the fly with 5th position in the breaststroke, also in the same age category Sam Pearson claimed 4th position in the fly.
Girls Event
Two girls in unstoppable form were Rebecca Britten (13) who claimed top girl in her age group and Dayna Towns (12) with Rebecca claiming speeding tickets in the freestyle and backstroke with gold medals in the fly and 100IM and 4th position in the breaststroke with Dayna claiming speeding tickets in the fly and backstroke with gold medals in the breaststroke and freestyle. Kayley Britten (10) was also in top form claiming a speeding ticket in the backstroke with gold in the freestyle, silver in the fly, bronze in the 100IM and 6th in the breaststroke. Also on the speeding ticket trail was Rebecca Durn (11) and Hannah Burgess (10) with Rebecca claiming top girl in her age group claiming a speeding ticket in the breaststroke with a gold in the backstroke and 4th in the 100IM and Hannah claiming a speeding ticket in the freestyle and a silver in the backstroke. Bryony Dawson (14) won silver in the freestyle with 6th position in the fly and breaststroke with Ellisia Dawson (11) claiming silver in the breaststroke. Thirteen year-old Heather Wellings claimed 5th position in the fly with Lyn Shacksshaft taking 6th position in the freestyle in the 15 and over category.
