September 2011 Level 3 Meet

 

On Saturday 17th September Rotherham Metro held their first meet of the new season at Ponds Forge  The  short course open meet  attracted many swimmers from all over the UK and the results were  categorised as follows  A grade, B grade and a speeding ticket (for swimming faster than the cut off time). Not only did Kimberley Bush win the Top girl Rotherham also came away with the top club award (Pictured are the team with Aaron Waterhouse boys captain and Emily Shone girls captain holding the trophy).

Girls Competition

Gaining the award for top girl on the day was Kimberley Bush (15) who claimed hat- trick of Gold medals in the 50 Backstroke, 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle with Silver in the 50 Breaststroke. Once again in outstanding form was Charlotte Pearson (17) who was simply too fast for the competition by coming away with a magnificent seven speeding tickets in the 50 Backstroke, Fly and Freestyle, 100 IM, Fly, Freestyle and Backstroke. Hot on Charlottes heels was rising star Rebecca Bamber (11) who claimed five speeding tickets in the 50 Fly,  50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke , 100 IM and 100 Backstroke and followed this up with Gold in the 100 Breaststroke and Silvers in the 100 Freestyle and 50 Breaststroke. Emily Shone (15) scored a hat-trick of speeding tickets in the 100 IM, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Silver in the 100 Fly. Eleven year-old Dayna Towns representing Metro for the first time was in scintillating form coming away with speeding tickets in the 100IM and 50 Freestyle plus a Gold medal in the 100 Freestyle and to wrap up fantastic performance Silver medals in the 50 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke. Debbie cocking (10) yet again proved what an outstanding talent she is by claiming speeding tickets in the 100 Breaststroke and Freestyle and following this up with Gold in the 100 Fly.  Jessica Bushby (14) claimed a speeding ticket in the 50 Fly with Gold in the 100 Fly and B grade Gold in the 100 Backstroke and Silver medals in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Twelve year-old Holly Sotheran gained a speeding ticket in the 100 Fly and Gold in the 100 Freestyle followed by Silver in the 50 Fly and a hat-trick of Bronze medals in the 50 Freestyle, Backstroke and 100IM. Fast improving Rebecca Britten claimed a speeding ticket in the 50 Freestyle with Gold in the 50 Fly, Silver in the 100IM and Bronzes in the 100 Freestyle and Backstroke. Shannon Eades (14) was in electrifying form claiming a hat-trick of Gold medals in the 50 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle and also Bronze medals in the 50 Backstroke and Freestyle. Taking a brace of gold medals was fifteen year-old Kelsey Longden in the 100IM and 100 Fly also claiming a brace of gold medals was Abbie Ackroyd (11) in the 100IM and 50 Breaststroke with Silver in the 100 Breaststroke and B grade Silver in the 100 Freestyle. Twelve year-old Alice Aucott claimed Gold in the 100 Fly with a brace of Silver medals in the 100IM and 50 Backstroke and also a brace of Bronzes in the 50 Fly and 100 Backstroke. Thirteen year-old Chloe Rooker came away with Gold in the 50 Freestyle, B grade Gold in the 50 Breaststroke and silver in the 50 fly with finally a B grade Bronze in the 50 Backstroke, Abbie Hull also 13 claimed Gold in the 100 Backstroke and Bronze in the 50 Backstroke. In a extremely competitive age group ten year-old  Kayley Britten came away with Silver medals in the 100IM and Freestyle with a B grade Bronze in the 100 Fly. Bethany Woodcock (14) secured 4 medals which were Silver in the 100IM, Bronze in the 50 and 100 Fly and finally a well-earned Gold in the B grade 100 Breaststroke. Having only just turned 13 Alicia Hartley claimed the full range of medals in the B grade with Gold in the 100 Breaststroke, Silver 100IM and Bronze 50 Freestyle. Sophie Jones (13) claimed Gold in the B grade 50 Fly and a Bronze B grade in the 100 Fly, Lynne Shackshaft (14) claimed Gold in the B grade 50 Breaststroke and Bronze in the B grade 50 Fly. Nicole Clarke (14) claimed B grade Gold in the 100IM with Fiona Connell also 14 taking B grade Silvers in the 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke. Eleven year-old Courtney Cutler put in a fantastic performance to take the B grade Silver medal in the 100 Backstroke and also taking the B grade Silver medals were Laura Gillott (15) in the 100 Backstroke and Heather Wellings (13) in the 100 Freestyle. Up and coming future stars Ceri Thorman (11) and Kenyon Kellet (10) both put in fine performances claiming a B grade Bronze medal  in the 50 Breaststroke and 100 Breaststroke respectively.

 

Boys Competition

In the 15 and over section Dale Waterhouse claimed a very impressive seven speeding tickets in the 50 Breaststroke, Freestyle, Backstroke, 100 IM, 100 Fly, 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke and a Gold medal in the 50 Fly. George Russell (14) was once again in outstanding form claiming 4 speeding tickets in the 100IM; Fly, Freestyle and 50 fly with Gold medals in the 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke. Mathew Sotheran (15) claimed 4 speeding tickets in the 100IM, Freestyle, Fly and 50 Freestyle with Silver in the 50 Fly in the 15 and over age group. Claiming a hat-trick of speeding tickets was Aaron Waterhouse (17) in the 100IM, 100 Freestyle and 50 Freestyle with Gold medals in the 50 Breaststroke and Fly and finally Silver in the 100 Backstroke, Adam Parkes (17) also won a Hat-trick of speeding tickets in the 100 freestyle, 50 and 100 Backstroke. Taking a grand total of 8 medals was 13 year-old Robert Pearson which consisted of speeding tickets in the 100IM and 50 Backstroke with Gold in the 50 Fly and 100 Backstroke, Silver in the 50 Freestyle and Breaststroke and Bronze medals in the 100 Freestyle and Breaststroke. Sixteen year-old Josh Whitehurst claimed a speeding ticket in the 100 Freestyle and Gold in the 100 Breaststroke with James Shiel also 16 taking a speeding ticket in the 100 Fly and Bronze medals in the 50 Fly and 100 Breaststroke. Thomas Gibbons (16) claimed Gold in the 100IM and Freestyle with a Bronze in the 50 Backstroke with eleven year-old Jack McGann in tremendous form claiming Gold in the 100 Freestyle and a hat-trick of silvers in the 100IM and 50 Fly and Freestyle. Twelve year-old Connor Neal was once again in fine form claiming silver in the 50 Fly, Bronze in the 100 Fly and B grade Gold in the 100 Backstroke followed by B grade Bronze in the 100 Breaststroke. Josh Hillman (13) claimed Silver in the 100IM, Bronze in the 100 Backstroke and B grade Gold in the 100 Breaststroke with Devin Kellett (12) taking silver in the 100 backstroke and a B grade Silver in the 50 Freestyle.  Twelve year-old Benjamin Cliffe scored double Gold in the B grade 100IM and 50 Fly with Sam Pearson (15) claimed B grade Silver in the 100 Fly and B grade Bronze medals in the 100IM and 50 Backstroke. Taking a Gold and Silver in the B grade was twelve year-old Luke Hamstead and Scott Mason (17) in the 50 Backstroke and breaststroke for Luke and 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke for Scott. Taking B grade Gold was Connor Wood (11) in the 100 Freestyle, Andrew Bishop (15) in the 50 Freestyle and William Bailey (16) in the 50 Backstroke. Taking a B grade Silver in the 50 Backstroke was James Newton with B grade Bronze medals going to Harry Buxton (11) in the 50 Freestyle and Jack Whitehurst (10) in the 100 Breaststroke.  Nine year-old Jack Anderson was Rotherham’s youngest medal winner on the day claiming a Bronze medal in the 50 Breaststroke with an outstanding performance.
